At Shay Murtagh, we believe in building more than just infrastructure; we are committed to building the future workforce of our industry. We are incredibly proud to participate in the 2025 STEM Passport programme in partnership with the Construction Industry Federation (CIF). This initiative is vital for connecting education with industry, offering students a tangible pathway into the worlds of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
This year, alongside our industry colleagues at Bennett Construction Ltd, we were delighted to facilitate a hands-on learning experience for participating students. The STEM passport programme goes beyond the classroom, providing mentorship and real-world exposure that textbooks simply cannot match. During the programme, our experienced mentors spent time sharing valuable insights into what a career in modern construction and engineering truly entails.
We recently welcomed a group of enthusiastic students to our headquarters to complete a portion of their STEM passport journey. It was a fantastic opportunity for our team to demonstrate the practical application of engineering principles. Students were given a comprehensive site tour, witnessing first-hand the scale and precision involved in manufacturing complex precast concrete products. From design to logistics, we showcased the diverse roles available within the sector.
We continue to encourage young people to explore construction as a rewarding and dynamic career choice. By opening our doors and engaging in conversations about the future of infrastructure, we hope to spark a lasting interest. The energy on the day was palpable, and we look forward to potentially seeing these students return as the next generation of engineers and innovators.
