Meridian Water Regeneration Project

The Meridian Water regeneration project in North London represents a significant transformation of the local landscape, and Shay Murtagh is proud to play a core role in its structural development. Central to this phase of construction is the manufacture and delivery of 131 precast parapets, designed to provide robust safety and aesthetic continuity for four new bridges crossing key waterways.

These bridges serve as vital links for the community, requiring a high degree of technical precision. Our involvement began with a comprehensive design phase to ensure each unit met the specific architectural requirements of the North London site. By utilizing off-site manufacturing, we addressed the intricate geometries required for the bridge edges while maintaining strict control over material quality and finish.

Success in large-scale urban infrastructure depends heavily on timing. To prevent site delays, our logistics team coordinated the sequential delivery of the 131 units, allowing for immediate installation upon arrival. This streamlined approach minimized the physical footprint of construction on-site, a critical factor when working near active waterways and existing transport links.

The collaboration involved close work with partners Taylor Woodrow, Oliver Connell and Son Ltd., and Tubecon Ltd. This synergy ensured that the parapets integrated perfectly with other structural elements, such as concrete bridge beams, to create a cohesive and durable crossing.

As these bridges near completion, they stand as a testament to the efficiency of modern precast methods. We remain committed to supporting the Meridian Water vision by delivering infrastructure that prioritizes safety, longevity, and structural integrity. Seeing these units installed marks a major milestone in reconnecting this part of London, proving that careful planning and expert manufacturing result in superior civic assets.
