The MY5 beams manufactured by Shay Murtagh are currently playing a central role in the development of a major new 90-acre technology campus in Bristol. This significant “Long Ashton project” serves as the European headquarters for a US healthcare software company, requiring robust infrastructure to support its sprawling site. Located on green belt land, the project demands high-precision engineering and a reliable supply chain to navigate the complexities of such a sensitive construction environment.
Our involvement began in early autumn 2025 after being assigned to the project by Fox Contracts Limited. Since then, we have been responsible for the manufacture and delivery of various bespoke precast concrete products, including chambers, culverts, and structural units. The most recent milestone occurred on the 30th of March 2026, with the successful delivery of the MY5 beams to the Bristol site. To ensure the safety and efficiency of the installation process, our team also provided specialized lifters, allowing the onsite crew to set the products into place with maximum accuracy.
Specifically engineered for versatility in civil engineering, MY5 beams are ideal for short-span highway, rail, and pedestrian bridge applications. These precast units provide a shallow, solid slab-type deck, which is particularly advantageous in environments where available structural depth is strictly limited. By minimizing the need for extensive in-situ formwork, MY5 beams streamline the installation process while offering a high-strength, durable finish capable of withstanding significant loading requirements

expertise, we have ensured that even large-scale components like concrete bridge beams arrive on-site exactly when needed, keeping the overall construction timeline on track.
