The concrete bridge beam installation at Bridge B4 marks a major milestone in the Strategic Infrastructure Works for Meridian Water, one of Enfield’s flagship regeneration projects. Shay Murtagh supplied and delivered eight precast concrete bridge beams, each measuring 22 metres in length and weighing around 35 tonnes, manufactured at our production facility in Raharney, Co. Westmeath.
Installed on 3 July, these beams form the first of four bridge lifts planned across the site. Bridge B4 will serve as a key connector within the new road and pedestrian network, supporting the future growth of the area. The beams were installed by Oliver Connell and Son Ltd, with Taylor Woodrow managing the operation. Piling works were completed in advance by Bachy Soletanche, creating the structural foundations necessary for the installation.
This project required meticulous coordination between all teams involved. From off-site manufacturing to just-in-time delivery and final placement, the entire process was tightly managed to ensure efficiency and safety. A video of the installation, created by Periscope and filmmaker Gio from Out the Box Productions, captured the process and featured key members of the delivery team.
Simon Milligan, Project Director at Taylor Woodrow, highlighted the significance of the bridge lift as a turning point in the overall programme. Pooja Godhania, Project Manager, credited the achievement to clear planning and strong collaboration between all project partners.
