As part of Network Rail’s Great Western Electrification Programme, Shay Murtagh Precast recently manufactured and delivered a number of precast concrete units for the Alderton Road Bridge reconstruction works in Alderton, Chippenham to main contractor AMCO Rail. The project is part of a larger initiative to transform the railway between London and Oxford, Newbury, Bristol and Cardiff, ensuring more reliable, quieter and greener journeys for thousands of passengers.
The Alderton Road Project included the precast concrete manufacture of 2 No. 18t cill beams, 2 No. 25t deck slabs and 12 No. 6t approach walls. The units were manufactured over a two-week period in early April for a trial erection in our factory and for delivery for installation on the weekend of 30th of April 2016.
We would like to thank the team in AMCO Rail for their collaboration and professionalism, making this a successful project. Their excellent communication and forward planning allowed for good foresight and efficient scheduling of the works. We look forward to our next project together.
