Kilkenny RWSS

Shay Murtagh Precast have recently completed a contract with Glanua in delivering improvements to the water supply across Kilkenny for approx. 28,000 people. Uisce Éireann, in partnership with Kilkenny County Council, our end Clients are upgrading works of two separate water treatment plants (WTPs), Radestown and Troyswood to provide robust water treatment facilities and also have adequate capacity to cater for future growth in Kilkenny City & Environs.

The project upgrades and increases capacity at the water treatment plant at Troyswood and will become the primary water treatment plant facility for Kilkenny City.
Alongside the design, manufacture and delivery of the tankage, Shay Murtagh Precast also completed works on the Chemical and Intake buildings -

Full Work Specification:

Chemical Building:

  • 58no. 9 metre high 250mm thick Fire Walls
  • 58no. Internal Leaf 150mm thick internal walls

Intake Building:

  • 20no. 6 metre high 250mm thick external walls. Finished with a special RECKLI matt to replicate a traditional Nap Plaster Finish.
  • 15no. Roof Slabs

1no. Sludge Tank

  • 9.43m dia x 5m High Prestressed Tank - with top coping bands
  • Including Insitu Concrete Base Construction on site.

1no. PFT Tank

  • 7.97m dia x 4m High Prestressed Tank - with top coping bands
  • Including Sloping Insitu Concrete Base Construction on site.

1no. Clearwater Tank

  • 23.47m dia x 6m high prestressed Tank with Columns, Beams and Roof Slabs.
  • Including Insitu Concrete Base Construction on site.

2no. Settlement Tanks

  • 2no. 13.8m dia x 5.5m high prestressed Tanks – with top comping bands.
  • Including 2no. Sloping Insitu Concrete Base Construction on site.

Insitu Works totalling 550m3 of concrete poured on site. Approx 410no. Precast Units installed on site.
